This week's guest publication...

The flight up from Miami to Washington was on a Boeing 737, which had no more than 3 seats together; so Philippa sat with the kids, and I sat behind them with two other passengers, a teenage girl and a woman who were known to each other. They were engrossed in the finer details of Leviticus, each referencing a large bible, so I found myself once again marvelling at the tripe one can buy from 'SkyMall', the in-flight shopping magazine for American Airways.

The front cover had an intriguing item: "Thermal Strike", a suitcase that can heat its contents to 140°F (60°C).
Portable BBQ?
So I had to venture in to find out why it did this. Sadly reality failed to live up to the intrigue: the heating is to kill bed bugs. But this was as nothing compared to other items available inside:

My inner geek quails at the thought that there's still a market for 2 metre long "Media Storage Tower", when a 10cm iPod classic will hold the same 2,250 CDs and then some.

But as ever, best in show go to the pet accessories: "Porch potty" was impressive, but came a distant second to "Litter Kwitter" , the very thought of which had me reaching for the gin bottle.  Help ma boab!

  1. Hello Millerchips, We're just catching up on your blog. This post had us screeching! Please pick up a couple of thermal strikes for us to wrap around Dan's bed. Dan came into our room at midnight itching frantically and after applying antihistamine cream to the bites I then spent the next hour catching bed-bugs...much bigger than I realised. Dan's bed is now a no-go zone and it's time to call in the bed-bug busters.
